Mike Smith is a Partner and the Chief Investment Officer at GEM. In this role, Mike is responsible for developing the firm’s investment policy, as well as overseeing active asset allocation and risk management strategies. Prior to joining GEM in 2010, Mike served as the founding CIO at the University of Florida Investment Management Company. Prior to that, he was an Investment Manager at the Duke University Management Company (DUMAC). He joined DUMAC from Hewitt Investment Group, where he was the Director of Research. He currently serves on the Board of the Gator Student Investment Fund. He received a B.S. in Finance from the University of Florida and is a CFA Charterholder.
